OhanaLink Technologies has launched its new mobile app with a suite of patient-focused communication tools.

The app, the second released by the Hermitage-based company this year, is designed to connect patients and families through secure channels. Among the features are a “private waiting room” that allows users to invite selected guests and send messages to everyone, reducing “the chaos found in group texting and chats on other social media channels.”

“We believe that at the very center of our lives is our family, our ‘ohana’ the Hawaiian term meaning family,” said CEO and founder Kara Wasser in a statement. “It is whose support many of us seek when faced with significant health events. Our products help families connect and communicate and that’s why we are excited to introduce our easy-to-use mobile technology that offers a new way for families to communicate directly when our loved ones need us most.”

Users can “current and accurate” health updates. Special products include real-time chats and updates, in-app shopping for gifts, a health planner and access to health-care resources, as well as virtual gift cards that can be sent to patients.

The company also offers OhanaLink Health Kids, aimed at families of young patients, from newborns to adolescents.

“Our first in market technology offers the perfect communication tools to aid patients and guests through the communication challenges associated with the pandemic,” Wasser said, “ including limited visitation in healthcare facilities and offices. Whether the needed care is in an emergency room, inpatient setting, outpatient center, or ambulatory surgery center, OhanaLink Health Kids is an easy-to-use solution for families experiencing stressful health situations.”

OhanaLink Technologies moved into its new space at eCentre@LindenPointe in August.

The OhanaLink apps, both of which require monthly subscription, are available on the Apple Store and Google Play.
